How to compare custom closet companies in South Florida
Compare South Florida closet companies on 3D design, materials, written warranty, pricing, reviews and ownership. Book a free in-home 3D design visit.

To compare custom closet companies in South Florida, have each one design the same space, then compare seven things: the consultation and 3D design, product lines and materials, the warranty in writing, how pricing and discounts work, installation timing, reviews, and who owns the company. Here's what to look for in each, and how we check our facts.
Last updated October 9, 2026. Closet Décor & More, an independent closet company in Coral Springs, wrote this guide, so read it knowing we're one of the companies you may be comparing.
What to compare
1. The consultation and 3D design
Every company compared on these pages offers a free design visit, so look at what happens during it. Ask who measures, how long the visit takes, whether you'll see a 3D design, and whether you can change sizes, finishes and hardware before you get a price. A design you can see and adjust is the easiest way to catch problems before anything is built. Here's what happens at our free consultation.
2. Product lines and materials
Ask what the shelves and panels are made of, which finishes and door styles are available, and whether there's more than one product line at different price points. Ask to see and touch samples. Our guide to closet materials explains the common options, and you can browse our finishes and door styles.
3. Warranty terms in writing
"Lifetime" and "limited lifetime" can mean different things from one company to the next. Before you sign, get the warranty in writing and check:
- what it covers: materials, installation, hardware or all three
- what voids it, such as moving or modifying the system
- whether items the company doesn't make, like mirrored doors or wall bed mechanisms, carry a separate warranty
- whether it transfers if you sell the house
4. How pricing and discounts work
Companies present prices in different ways. Some publish example prices, some quote only after the design visit, and some advertise large percentage-off promotions with order minimums. The percentage matters less than the final total for the same design. Ask every company for an itemized quote that covers layout, finish, drawers and doors, lighting, installation, removal of old shelving and tax. Our custom closet cost guide explains what drives price, and financing is worth comparing too.
5. Installation timing
Ask how many weeks pass between approving the design and installation day, and how long the installation itself takes. Each system is built for your space, so expect some wait; ours usually installs a few weeks after the design is approved. Our guide to how long installation takes covers what affects the schedule.
6. Reviews
Look past the star average. Check how many reviews there are, how recent they are, and whether they describe the design visit, the installers and how problems were fixed. Read more than one platform, and when a company quotes a rating, note where it comes from. You can read our reviews the same way.
7. Local ownership and who does the work
Closet companies are national franchises, company-owned branches or independent local businesses. No model is automatically better. A national brand brings standardized products and several showrooms; a local independent puts the owner closer to your project. Either way, ask who will design your space, who will install it, and how you'll see finishes before you choose.
How we built our comparison pages
- Sources. We use only what each competitor publishes (its website, FAQ, warranty page and advertised offers) and, where a basic fact isn't on its own site, a third-party listing. Every competitor fact links to its source with an "as of" date.
- Prices. We repeat only prices and offers a competitor publishes, word for word or with the numbers unchanged.
- Strengths. Every page has a section on where the competitor is strong.
- Our own column. We state what we can show you. Our warranty terms and prices are discussed at your consultation, so the pages say "ask at your consultation."
- Names. We use company names only to identify them. We don't use their logos, and we're not affiliated with any of them.
- Updates. We plan to re-check these pages every quarter.
The comparisons
Details and sources, as of October 9, 2026, are on each page:
- California Closets alternative in South Florida: a national brand that publishes example prices by design level.
- Closet Factory alternative: a national franchise brand whose family-owned Fort Lauderdale location has a showroom in Deerfield Beach.
- Closets by Design alternative: a franchise brand with a percentage-off promotion and four collections.

Frequently asked questions
- What should I compare when choosing a custom closet company?
Compare the design visit and whether you'll see a 3D design, the materials and product lines, the written warranty, how the price is built and discounted, installation timing, reviews, and who owns the company and does the work. Have every company design the same space so the quotes are comparable.
- Is a franchise closet company better than a local independent?
Neither is automatically better. Franchise brands offer standardized products, published processes and often several showrooms. Local independents tend to put the owner closer to your project. Judge each company on its design, materials, written warranty, final price and recent reviews rather than on its business model.
- How many quotes should I get for a custom closet?
Two or three quotes is usually enough to see the range, as long as each company designs the same space with a similar layout, finish and accessories. Ask for itemized totals that include installation and tax so you're comparing the same scope, not different designs.
- How do I compare a quote that has a big percentage discount?
Ignore the percentage and compare the final total for the same design. A discount is taken from that company's own starting price, so it doesn't tell you how the result compares with another company's quote. Check order minimums, expiry dates and financing terms in the fine print before you sign.
