White Custom Kids Closet System With Modern Drawer Fronts

A kids' closet organizer puts rods, shelves, cubbies and drawers at heights a child can reach, then adjusts as the child grows. Closet Décor & More designs and installs children's closet systems in homes across Broward and southern Palm Beach County, starting with a free in-home visit where we build the design with you in 3D.

What goes into a kids' closet organizer

Young children can't reach a standard closet rod, so clothes end up on the floor or stretched off their hangers. A children's closet system fixes that with:

  • A lower, adjustable rod so your child can hang up their own clothes
  • Cubbies with bins or baskets for toys, books, socks and sports gear
  • Drawers for pajamas, underwear and play clothes
  • Hooks at kid height for backpacks, hoodies and hats
  • Shoe storage close to the floor, where small feet need it
  • High shelves for keepsakes, spare bedding and anything you'd rather they didn't reach
  • A hamper so dirty clothes have a home

Kids' closets use the same 13 finishes as our adult closets, and the melamine coating resists moisture, stains and fading. Browse colors and door styles, knobs and handles and closet accessories before your visit.

Designed to grow with your child

A closet built for a toddler shouldn't need replacing when that child turns 12. Here is what the designer plans for:

  • Adjustable components. Rods and shelves can be raised as your child gets taller.
  • Swappable pieces. Low cubbies that suit a five-year-old can come out later for shoe racks or regular shelving a teenager will actually use.
  • School mornings. A valet rod lets you hang the week's outfits ahead of time.
  • Siblings who share. Each child can get a side, their own drawers and labeled bins. Our post on sharing a closet has more ideas.
  • Your child's input. We talk with you, and your child if you like, about what they need to stay organized.
  • Life after childhood. When your child moves out, the same closet can become a guest or craft closet.

We also build kids' storage beyond the bedroom closet, including under-stairs units; see our unique spaces page. For ideas you can use today, read our kids' closet organization ideas.

How it works

  1. Book a free consultation. Call (954) 900-9983 or book a free design visit.
  2. Design it in 3D. The designer measures the closet, sets rod and shelf heights for your child and builds the design with you. Change anything until it's right.
  3. Get a quote. We offer economical and luxury lines and can usually work within your budget. Financing through Synchrony is available.
  4. Installation. Usually a few weeks later. Installers remove old shelving and clean up before they leave.

Frequently asked questions

What height should a kids' closet rod be?

For a toddler, our kids' closet organizing guide suggests about three feet from the floor. The right height depends on your child, so the designer sets it at the design visit. Because the rods are adjustable, you can raise them as your child grows instead of rebuilding the closet.

Will a kids' closet system still work for a teenager?

Yes. Our children's closets are adjustable, so rods and shelves move up as your child grows. Pieces that suit a young child, like low cubbies, can be swapped for shoe racks or shelving a teenager prefers. Later, the same closet can serve as a guest or craft closet.

Are custom closets worth it for kids?

For many families, yes. A closet a child can use on their own makes mornings easier, keeps clothes off the floor and builds organizing habits early. Because the system adjusts, you aren't paying for a closet your child will outgrow. Our article on the value of children's custom closets covers the reasons in detail.

Can two kids share one closet?

Yes. The designer can split a shared closet into two zones, each with its own rod, drawers and labeled bins, so each child knows where their things go. Rod heights can differ on each side if your children are different ages. Our shared closet ideas post has more tips.

Which finishes work best in a kid's room?

Any of our 13 finishes works, because each is wood with a melamine coating that resists moisture, stains and fading. Your designer brings samples to the visit so you can compare them in the room, and you can preview every finish and door style on our colors and styles page first.

How much does a kids' closet organizer cost?

It depends on the closet's size, the finish, and the drawers, cubbies and accessories you include. You get an exact quote after the free 3D design, with no obligation to buy. Promotional financing through Synchrony is available, subject to credit approval, and our cost guide explains what affects the price.

Emil, Chris and Chris Jr. Installed 3 closets in my home. Fast, neat, professional and just really nice people. I am so happy with the way everything turned out. Great company to deal with and well worth the wait for my installation. I highly recommend them.
