Garage Closet System

Closet Décor & More builds custom garage storage in Boca Raton: wall cabinets, overhead racks, slatwall panels, workbenches and Swisstrax floor tiles. A designer visits for free, measures the garage, works out a 3D design with you and then gives you a quote. We're based in nearby Coral Springs.

Two kinds of Boca Raton garage

Boca Raton is really two housing markets under one name. Inside the city limits are established neighborhoods, including waterfront ones such as Royal Palm Yacht and Country Club and Boca Islands. According to Wikipedia's Boca Raton article, many people with a Boca Raton mailing address live outside the municipal boundary, in West Boca. The area is also known for gated golf and country-club communities such as Boca West, Broken Sound and the Polo Club.

Each setting fills a garage differently. Near the water, it's rods, coolers and life jackets that come back wet and sandy. In the country clubs, a golf cart often joins the cars, and some homes even have a separate golf-cart bay.

What goes into a Boca Raton garage system

  • Cabinets. Tall units for pool, car-care and paint supplies, and uppers that clear the hood of a parked car. They're made of real wood under a melamine finish that stands up to moisture, stains and fading, and each shelf carries up to 100 lb.
  • Slatwall or gridwall panels. Dedicated holders keep golf bags, tennis racquets and fishing rods on the wall and slide along the panel as needs change.
  • Overhead racks. Holiday decorations, beach chairs and twice-a-year bins go up near the ceiling, set clear of the door's path.
  • A workbench. Pick a butcher block, Ebony Star, Milano Quartz or stainless steel top.
  • Swisstrax floor tiles. They snap together over the existing concrete in one color or a pattern.

Salt air, storm season and a house that sits closed

Coastal air carries salt, and salt speeds up rust on bare steel. That's why the stainless steel hardware on our garage cabinets matters more near the Intracoastal than it would inland.

The National Hurricane Center lists the Atlantic hurricane season as June 1 to November 30, with the peak around September 10. When a storm approaches, patio furniture and supplies move into the garage, and a garage with everything already on the walls has room for them. Our hurricane-season garage storage guide covers the planning.

If you split the year between Boca and a northern home, the garage may sit closed all summer, which is also the wet season: the Miami forecast office of the National Weather Service puts nearly 70% of South Florida's annual rain between May 15 and October 15. Get boxes off the bare slab, and move anything heat-sensitive out. Our post on what not to store in a Florida garage lists those items.

A free design visit, drawn in 3D

The designer comes to your home, measures the walls and ceiling, and asks what has to fit and what you want to spend. You watch the 3D design take shape and can resize a cabinet, swap a color or move the workbench, and the quote follows the design you approve. Installation usually comes a few weeks later, and the installers can take down old shelving and clean up. Here's what happens at the free design consultation. The designer brings finish and hardware samples, so you can choose colors in your own garage.

Paola B. described her whole-house project in a Google review: "We did 5 bedrooms, laundry room and garage, it totally gave the house a makeover."

Finishes, accessories and flooring

Garage cabinets come in eight colors, from White and Silver to the wood-grain Coco and darker Slate and Basalt. Compare them on the garage colors and styles page. The garage accessories catalog shows golf, tennis, fishing-rod and bike holders. Swisstrax garage tiles come in ribbed, smooth, diamond-plate and wood-look styles, plus Logotrax, which can carry a logo.

What a Boca Raton garage system costs

No two garages are alike, so we don't publish a standard price. Most of the total comes from how many cabinets you choose and how big they are, the material and color, and installation labor. Our guide to garage cabinet costs explains each factor. Financing through Synchrony is available.

Frequently asked questions

Can you design garage storage around a golf cart?

Yes. The designer measures the cart along with your cars and marks where each one parks. Cabinets, slatwall and overhead racks then go around those spots, so car doors still open and the cart drives in and out. You see the layout in 3D before approving the quote.

Will salt air near the Intracoastal rust garage cabinet hardware?

Our garage cabinets use stainless steel hardware, which resists rust and corrosion. No metal is completely immune to salt air, though. Wipe down hinges and handles now and then, and let wet fishing gear dry on open racks before it goes behind cabinet doors.

Do you serve West Boca and the gated country clubs?

Boca Raton is one of the 17 South Florida cities we serve, and many West Boca homes carry a Boca Raton address. Call (954) 900-9983 with your address, and we'll confirm and set up a free in-home consultation that fits your schedule.

Should I leave floor space in the garage for hurricane prep?

It helps, because patio furniture, grills and storm supplies usually come inside when a storm is forecast. With everyday storage on the walls and ceiling, that floor area stays open, and the designer can mark it as a clear zone in your 3D design.
